repost from elsewhere, the "introduce yourself, we're curious" thread
the goblin felt it only fair to introduce himself too, saying "...well I suppose I'm your average, everyday kind of goblin then, married with children, living in geneva, that's switzerland to most people now but home somehow to me I suppose...", outside though, the cold just sent any venturous person back indoors again, while this quiet sunday morning was inconspicuously turning into the quiet sunday afternoon too, followed by yet more quiet after that till nightfall in the goblin's conjecture here, "...funny, there must be something wrong with me then, you see, it's just that those trappings of this "dailylife", and the trinkets of the moneygod, don't really interest me now, perhaps then I write to know myself by what I post, yes, but more likely I just post to see what lies within..." mused the goblin again who often felt that all this writing was like a journey to self, adding "...so now, how can I possibly introduce to you somewhere that I haven't got to yet..."

(same idea, somewhere else though)
repost from elsewhere, a writer's site "introduce yourself" thread
"...hi, actually I'm just your average everyday kind of goblin then, so I don't really cut it as a writer, with no wish to ever become recognized as such, nor with any need to become published where I already have a readership over forums matching a fair sized book by now..." ventured the goblin over his old keyboard once more before breaking off for yet another sip of coffee, continuing "...no, I only write as a journey to self here, simply as a wish to create a Peter Pan like "Internet self" that counter balances my Wendy like "dailylife" now...", at which point the goblin suddenly realized that any anonymous self introduction could simply be boiled down to a rather precise "hello, I'm here, aren't I", saying "...and since no one can prove anything about themselves on this Internet anyway, perhaps I am most honest one amongst us, I mean this mask is real enough I suppose..."

well whether the goblin was licking his wounds or laughing now, rather depended on the way he looked at it now, with two "last post" threads locked by their admins within days of their starting, even if they were fast becoming the most posted to, or hit on thread there, "...well I can relate, I mean someone starts a forum about some particular topic, and just I turn up and play "last post" in their off topic section with the usual result, because "last post" threads are basically "chat rooms", and then what, well then the admin, or the mod, panics locking the thread, usually to reopen it later PMing me with conditions or excuses...", in fact the goblin had been at this same crossroads often enough now, he imagined each member here had probably, at some time or other, been through it, that is facing exactly this same situation, of asking themselves, whether it is really worth returning to somewhere that had realized too late, that "pulling posts" or "locking threads" leaves the poster with some sword of damocles hanging over their efforts, but then the goblin just added a proviso, saying "...having explained all that, on the other hand, I still need new forums, both to edit and air those texts you have already seen here, plus "posts are born of posts" are they not, anyway whoever said "life is like a box of chocolates" could probably extend that idea to encompass forums too..."

the goblin was thinking about the term he had coined "icy dicey" which was basically the four letters ICDC as in "inflationary caused devaluation of currency", something that although one will never hear it mentioned on the media as such, was exactly what is happening now, saying "...you see, if you can't actually pay back a debt but you still own those printing presses, you can always devalue the debt though inflation here...", exactly what russia did after the fall of the wall, and guess what, the fed this year has printed more dollars than at any point in its previous history, "...simply, one only has to carefully avoid those two extremes, of either "hyper inflation" or "deflation" that is, while distracting voters with stuff like "climate change" and "terrorism" now..." mentioned the goblin at it, and somehow "icy dicey" seemed aptly put then, in that it was a very risky policy indeed if anyone ever cottoned on to what was happening to their pensions and savings that is

So... we meet again.
and with that the goblin was taken aback, somehow sensing that the xxxxxbots gang were here in full force now, and if ever there was a mean bunch of hardened criminals, these guys had to be them then, why, what with their menacing bennie caps, their thickened long socks, reinforced shorts and loosely knotted school ties, these guys were unmistakable, in fact their outwardly wryly grin only hid a dastard cunning the delved into such deviousness that nobody's packet of jellybeans were safe in the playground, the goblin weighed his words, feeling his life depended upon it somehow, it did he knew now, saying "...your secret ritual of the pom pom dance is safe with me, and it shall never leave these lips, promise...", somehow the goblin just hoped it would appease them, but one could never be sure, not until it was too late that is

"...me too, may have said it to you before, but if one starts illustrating ones texts, which is what this is then, many things happen..." mentioned the goblin, continuing "...first of all, pictures in general seem to change from that simplistic "like/dislike" subjective view to a wider "like/dislike, and what is it saying too, can I use it now" objective view..." but there was more, always more with the goblin it seemed, adding "...then again, the texts too, change here in that one is asking oneself "what picture will go with this text then, what is its image exactly", and lastly there is the physical preparation here, the hunt for the picture then which, keeping a beedy eye out, has to be found somewhere or the post won't be posted..." the goblin rarely posted without illustrating now, where some post took months and many changes to be exactly the right fit here

Where did you learn to write like that???
"...on "last post" threads..." replied the goblin honestly for once, adding "...if you write, I will help you, that has always been my promise throughout...", which was true enough, for the goblin proofread many posts for others now, secretly somewhere, liking it to his way of to getting to the "live writing", saying "...not that I don't like books, I do, but somehow anything unpublished is an unknown here, that is, no clear idea of either its length, nor of the plot, nor even of the ending if it has one then, yes most of the posts on sites are bad of course, but sometimes one hits gold, one is reading something that is both gripping and has the author on hand too..." somehow the goblin felt that it was the written equivalent of that difference between the theater and the cinema then, in that neither were bad, only different then, just that "live writing" was more like the theater in the goblin's view now, as if happening before his eyes it seemed, very present then

repost from elsewhere
"...remember, posts are the lifeblood of a thread here, if someone doesn't post something new each day, anyone turning up looking on will rightly raise an eyebrow, whereas if nothing new is posted in a week, he or she will think the site is sleeping, whereas if nothing has been posted in a month, most probably that same person will just presume that the site is dead then..." mused the goblin over his coffee once more, adding "...keep the site ticking over with posts then is my advice now, admins can't depend on members here, it's the captain who sets the course now and makes the pace..."

Are you ever going to give up...?
"...is there really ever any choice about it I wonder, so yes, one can give up for a while, but life continues, and the slot is still there of course, waiting for ones post that is, the clock too, ticks on, chipping away those remaining moments now, simply the tally will only catch up with one and flay ones conscience for ones delusion of escape here..." replied the goblin, adding "...besides, at one point or another, one stops posting for others, or as a game with friends then, as simply the slot becomes a mirror of ones thoughts and one just posts for real to find them, though it doesn't need to be some "last post" thread for that then, it could be any thread for that matter..."

repost from elsewhere, someone who had posted about kurt cobain, nirvana's lead singer
the goblin looked at the picture of kurt cobain again, saying "...some people just live of the edge like that I suppose, and I think his wife's passing words on his suicide are fitting here "sometimes you just can't save someone from themselves"...", where somehow the goblin had noted the fact that, she hadn't used the word "themself" here and simply understood why too, but the legacy of their music remains, as if set in time now, not aging like the other rock groups do..."

repost from elsewhere, the goblin's second self introduction thread, before it was locked too
Quote from: xxxxx
I don't like your style of writing. You should make it more exciting. I got bored after the first line of your posts.
Welcome.
"...now let's see, an attention span of one line, seeks excitement from others, really has nothing to show for his 4000 posts here, it's coming, now let me guess, got it, he's a shining example of the faults of the american educational system today..." ventured the goblin,"...brilliant deduction there..." went the voice in the background, outside the snow had stopped but it was going nowhere now, it was like in ones face, the goblin just continued "...well he's right I suppose, and perhaps I could start my posts with lines like "and suddenly the window smashed, shots went out, batman hard landed onto the scene a little in front of the goblin, not a moment to soon it seemed, saying "fear not good citizens of this forum, xxxxx has actually read this far, humanity is saved..."

So you did nothing today.
"...everything one does is trivial, what can I do which isn't I wonder..." replied the goblin not sure if the poser was addressing him though, adding "...no, just because one is responsible doesn't make it important in itself, life continues regardless of the individual here, so yes, the answer is nothing because it is all unimportant even if we pretend otherwise, I think carlos castaneda coined it "controlled folly" then, that life has to be lived, yes, but one mustn't lose oneself within it..."

"...thanks..." replied the goblin, continuing "...I think that one has to veer on the side of selfish on this internet, as being selfless might sound better I know but it can't be sustained in the long run and just turns into another compromise, no, this internet is there to help one see oneself for who one really is, simply the muse's pact goes "honesty, a shared life, and a thick skin" here...", the goblin knew that anyone who writes, came to terms with that pact in his or her own way then, though the choice itself was both vast and simple, in that there wasn't really a choice at all, one just writes

repost from elsewhere, helping a new site
Quote
I would like this site to become a place where everyone can talk about anything topic related.
It would be a community that anyone could come and join in on discussions and get advice.
Ultimately, I just want people to have a good time, and have a place for them to come and do it at.
"...well, I think you have to turn that on its head a bit..." replied the goblin, continuing "...that's because times have changed and most members are admins in their own right, even if they're still clinging to the idea that other people will turn up, but real admins don't do their sites for other members at all, they do their site for themselves as a storeroom, or reference book, simply you have to create yourself on this site, forgetting members that is, then if they turn up it's a plus for your site but remember, there are more and more sites chasing less and less members now...", just the goblin was a longstanding member of many forums, though nothing relating to this topic here, and he had been saddened by the number of admin who had given up through lack on interest here, adding "...so what can you store here I wonder, simply collect together everything you like, that way other members may relate if they come but if not you still have something worth keeping..."

"...why thank you my good human, if I may so bold as to call you one that is..." replied the goblin once more, while outside, the snow storm had subsided enough to let the minions of the moneygod continue their endless endeavors in this beloved city of affluence "Geneva & co", and well, into this then, dressed like a rather oldish teletubby, armed with his laptop and under the influence of caffeine, the lone goblin readied himself, without much relish mind you, for yet another tromp to the bank, read withdrawals here, the post office, read pay one tithes then, and the bistro, read lick wounds and drown sorrows in more coffee, so he hits on singing "...we're off to see the blizzard, the wonderful blizzard that was, that was, that was because, tralala...", exits, only to take one foot outside the door and is simply buried in snow, where surfacing some distance further down the street, well, at the bistro no less, thinks aloud "...never mind your silly "secret of fire" humans, just tell me how one remains sane in all this "dailylife", I will let you live to do..."
